The etymology of this street is explained. Walking through Devadi street we go from the predominantly Hindu areas of Mylapore to the Muslim areas adjoining them.

Bazaar Road has a rich history of being a commercial hub. It was also the place where the Nawayat Muslim community settled and this is reflected in the beautiful 100+ year old houses that they have built in a distinct architectural style.
